10:00 am - 3:00 pmLaw Courts (Vancouver) - Courtroom #52 800 Smithe Street, Vancouver, British Columbia

For anyone concerned about the Canadian government's request to appropriate a $250 million "surplus" from the "1986-1990" Tainted Blood hepatitis C compensation fund which was intended to go to victims, please join HepCBC and others in Vancouver to watch the live hearings in COURTROOM #52, between 8:30 and 2:30 each day. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT by coming early the first day and staying late the last day - we can meet in front of the courthouse.

NOTE: The "pre-1986, post-1990" compensation fund is now depleted and unable to compensate its victims properly. Also, many new victims still have not been diagnosed.  This action may set a precedent that could affect eligible victims of both the funds, as well as the many people who could potentially enter either of the classes but are not yet diagnosed, or did not apply before the deadlines.

This event is also happening LIVE at the TORONTO Courthouse (Rm#6-1) and can also be VIEWED in the MONTREAL Courthouse (Rm#15.04).

In Victoria, BC, a group of organizations supporting people who are infected/affected by Hepatitis are organizing two events to honour World Hepatitis Day.

We will be gathering at Centennial Square at around 11:45 and then walk downtown to the BC Legislative Buildings where speakers living with and affected by Hepatitis C will tell their stories.

The walk starts from Centennial Square at noon, proceeding down busy Douglas St. over lunch-hour and arriving at the Legislature around 12:45

At the legislature we will have speakers and information tables from 12:30 to 2pm.

As well, there will be an information table at the Victoria Central Library, with knowledgeable and experienced individuals from 11 am to 2 pm.

The global theme for this year is "Elimination" but our local one is: “Hepatitis C, Treatment At Diagnosis” to address the provincial regiment of health care.

The legislature will be lit in red and yellow throughout the evening starting at dusk but there will not be an event at that time.

HepCBC is excited to have an information table at this community event. Join the fun at the 9th Annual Vining Street Party on the Plaza.

To celebrate vibrant Fernwood and raise funds for community projects, each year Vining Street residents host a FAMILY ORIENTED PARTY. One and all are invited!

This year we anticipate two thousand Victoria residents will be in attendance during the course of the festivities.

The plan this year is to feature WORLD MUSIC, FOOD AND CULTURE

Please note VS POP is volunteer driven, receiving neither outside, nor Government funding. Net proceeds from VS POP 2016 again will go to the LEARNING CURVE SOCIETY (formerly LDABC, SVI) to support their work with VULNERABLE CHILDREN through their Reading and Writing Programs.
