Japan: Couple held over bogus hepatitis C drug served fresh warrant over fake Harvoni tablets

A couple were arrested anew on suspicion of selling a counterfeit version of the hepatitis C drug Harvoni to a wholesaler. The Metropolitan Police Department arrested Yoshimi Kase, 49, and her husband, Takayuki, 43, on suspicion of violating the pharmaceuticals and medical devices law. Japan: Hepatitis C drug fakes found in Nara drugstore chain

This is scary!! If this happens in Japan, could it happen in Canada or the USA? Counterfeits of the hepatitis C drug Harvoni have been found at a drugstore chain in Nara Prefecture, the health ministry said Tuesday. Harvoni is sold by a Japanese unit of U.S. pharmaceutical firm Gilead Sciences Inc. The ingredients of the counterfeits are now under examination. Alert: Fake Hepatitis C Medicines

The Philippines' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against a fake Hepatitis C medicines circulating in Southeast Asia. The FDA said the fake medicine brands include: Sofosbuvir + Ledipasvir (Ledso) 400 mg/ 90 mg capsule Daclatasvir (Dakavir) 60 mg capsule It said that based on an advisory from the World Health Organization (WHO) the fake medicines have been circulating around South East Asia and "may reach the Philippine market." ...
